BRINGING PITT TO THE WORLD

Right now, I’m working as the Communications Specialist for the University of Pittsburgh’s University Center for International Studies (or Pitt UCIS, for less of a mouthful). If my title was a little more descriptive, I think it would be something along the lines of “Resident Storyteller” or maybe just “Writer on Call”.
Most of my work focuses on UCIS’ seven area and thematic studies centers, which all cover different regions and globally-relevant areas of learning. That means I get to collaborate with interesting, diverse coworkers from across the globe and pop in on all different kinds of multicultural events to find stories there.

Essentially, anything that needs written for any platform or type of media is in my wheelhouse. I then collaborate with units across the university to get my writing published where it needs to go. Sometimes, that means it gets shipped directly to a center website; other days, I’m crafting pitches and figuring out how to slip them to the right members of the press.
